Why invest in software training?

You just bought a digital signage solution and deployed the equipment. You are now the proud owner of a digital signage network.  Congratulations! Now, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get started.

If you’re like most people, you’ll skip the user manual and dive right in.  After all, you probably figured out how to use PowerPoint on your own so how tough can this be?  Well, the “D-I-Y” approach might work for a while but there will come a point where you will need to do some real work and you won’t have the time to experiment.  Small scale digital signage projects tend to grow in size and complexity very quickly.  All of a sudden you need to manage complex scheduling and dynamic content.  You struggle to keep up but you can’t because you haven’t fully mastered the application.

You may also discover the application’s user friendly interface hides the product’s most useful features and you get frustrated because you don’t have all the information required to use the software efficiently.

That’s where professional software training comes into play.

Training should always be considered in the early stages of your project if you want to be productive right out of the gate. You will save time and money because you will have all the knowledge required to fully exploit every feature available. Your content will be more professional and your programming more dynamic.  Better to build up your knowledge during the initial stages of your project rather than wait until all hell breaks loose and you are facing tight deadlines.  You will have more time to train and hone your skills right after purchasing your software so it’s best to plan ahead and include training in your budget.

So what should you do?  Chances are your software vendor offers some type of training program and often video based training will be provided as part of your purchase.  However, one-on-one training is still the best way to get up to speed as quickly as possible.  If your software reseller or distributor doesn’t offer live training services, contact the software publisher as they may offer end-user training.  You can also look for independent consultants who can train you on a wide range of products and even tailor their curriculum to match your specific business requirements.  Best of all, you can get trained on premises or online so anyone can get the knowledge they need regardless of their geographic location.

Software training makes good business sense.
